Joey Alexander, Indonesian young pianists who predicted as a new star in the jazz world, was chosen as nominee for the two categories of the Grammy Awards. He is also likely to become the youngest winner in the awards event.
Joey manages to be nominated in two categories, namely Best Improvised Jazz Solo and Best Jazz Instrumental Album. This nomination is a remarkable achievement, considering that there are only five categories for jazz in the Grammy Awards. Grammy event itself will be held on February 15, 2106.
The entry of the name of Joey (12 years) also makes it one of the youngest nominee in the performance Grammy. He matched the achievement of Michael Jackson and Zac Hanson who first became a nominee at the age of 12 years.
If Joey managed to steal the award, he will become the youngest musician in Grammy wins. The youngest Grammy-winning record currently held by LeAnn Rimes, who won two awards at the age of 14 years.
Joey was born in Bali of a couple of parents who run a tourism business. He first showed a natural talent in jazz after listening to the album "Thelonious Monk" his father. He was able to play tunes on the mini electric keyboard with no training at all. His father, who was an amateur pianist, taught him some basics and Joey was able to penetrate the knowledge quickly.
